Our Story

Manuel Bedoy learned the art of baking sweet bread from his father in Mexico. In 1961, Manuel and Emma Bedoy established their own bakery, and through perseverance and dedication, they became one of San Antonio's most renowned bakeries.

The Bedoy family began a cherished tradition of preparing “Pan de Muerto” when the Rector of the San Fernando Cathedral requested Manuel to bake this traditional bread. This tradition has flourished and is now a beloved part of San Antonio's “Dia de los Muertos” celebrations.

Additionally, 50 years ago, Manuel Bedoy introduced the first 5 Roscas de Reyes to San Antonio. Today, the Bedoy family proudly continues this tradition, baking Roscas de Reyes in honor of Dia de Los Reyes, using the original family recipe. Our commitment to preserving these time-honored traditions ensures that every bite from Bedoy's Bakery is a taste of history and passion.
